Sleds should be prepared from the summer, and the garden should be planted for early harvest from autumn. Far from all cultures are suitable for this. And yet, getting a spring batch of vitamins 2-3 weeks earlier than others is real. An additional bonus will be a sufficient amount of moisture and the possibility of obtaining re-harvest. Another plus is the emergence of seedlings and their intensive growth at a time when natural pests have not yet woken up. Before winter you can plant greens, some vegetables and even potatoes. The main thing is not to hurry. It is important to wait for such an ambient temperature at which the seeds do not slip through the autumn, otherwise the shoots will simply die. In the spring of such shoots, it is advisable to cover the film, it will help protect the early shoots from early frosts.

Sowing under the winter: the nuances that need to be considered

For a successful planting, it is important to choose seed varieties that are optimally adapted to low temperatures. Landing time will vary from the end of mid-October (for the northern regions) to mid-November (for the southern regions). The consumption of seeds with this type of sowing is increased by 30-50%. Take care in advance is necessary and the preparation of the beds. Land should be dug up and fertilized whenever possible. Without waiting for the cold weather, you can mark the grooves, so that at the appointed time just plant the seeds. It is important that the seed is dry. Another feature of such planting - a taboo on watering. It is necessary to take into account the peculiarities concerning the comfort zone, and more precisely the temperature at which the seeds are able to germinate. In determining the distance between the seeds, the size of the fruit or the degree of growth of the green is taken into account.

Dill

Sowing at a temperature not exceeding +2 C in the afternoon, nighttime can reach -3 C. Seedlings are possible even at +3 C. The depth of planting is 2.5-3 cm.

Parsley

This type of sowing allows parsley to have good friendly shoots in the spring. Seeds are able to sink already at +2 C and normally carry frosts down to -9 C. Sowing depth 1-1.5 cm. For sowing in winter, it is better to take varieties that have a large leaf.

Cilantro

This culture is not afraid of spring frosts and is able to withstand temperatures up to -10 C. The seeding depth of seeds is 1-1.5 cm.

Parsnip

When sown at winter, the germination of parsnip is much higher. Planting depth - 2 cm. The optimal distance between the seeds inside the row - 5 cm.

Onions in all its diversity

Before winter, you can plant onions not only on the greens, but also to get the heads. From planted in the autumn Chernushka (that is the name of the seeds of different varieties of leek), both sevok and feather are obtained. For seeds planted on greens, a sufficient planting depth is 1.5 cm. If the chernushka is planted to obtain sowing material, the planting depth increases to 2.5 cm. Sevok on the heads is deepened by 3.5-4 cm.

Onion-batun has a milder taste than the leek. This perennial is valued for the feather, growing in lush bunches. Planting it before winter is much easier. Depth of planting seeds - 2-2.5 cm.

Another perennial - multi-tiered, he is viviparous, onions. This species is particularly frost resistant. Its varieties tolerate temperatures up to - 40 C. A prerequisite for this is rooting before the onset of cold weather. The optimal time of disembarkation is immediately after the harvest. Before frost should be at least 2 weeks.

Radish

It is better to delay the sowing of winter radish until the end of November, since it germinates well at a slight positive temperature. The depth of planting seeds is 2-3 cm. The radish planted in the winter will reach the table in early May.

Turnip

Turnip sown under the winter can be enjoyed in late May-early June. Drain it 2 weeks before the onset of cold weather. Depth of landing - 3 cm.

Carrot

Carrots are sown at a temperature of +2 - +4 C. The depth of laying seeds is 3-4 cm. It is important that after planting the land has time to settle before the onset of stable frosts. It is worth considering the fact that such carrots are not suitable for laying in storage. To provide yourself with fresh vegetables for the winter, you will need additional spring planting.

Beet

For sowing for the winter using the seeds of frost-resistant varieties. Planted at a temperature of -2 to -4 C. If it rises to +5 C, the beets can germinate. Planting depth - 3-4 cm. The first beet will be enjoyed in late May-early June. But for long-term storage, by analogy with carrots, it is necessary to use root crops, planted in spring.

Garlic

Planted winter garlic with individual teeth no earlier than 2 weeks before steady frosts to a depth of 3-5 cm.

Salad, spinach and not only

Lettuce, watercress, spinach and lettuce mustard are sown after the onset of stable frosts, otherwise there is a likelihood of germination. Different here is the depth of landing. For leaf mustard and cress - 1.5 cm. For salad - 2 cm, and for spinach - 3-4 cm. At the same time, spinach can be planted earlier (in the last days of September and the first of October). With this method, under the snow will be young leaves that have grown and become well rooted. The probability of freezing is small. With the onset of spring, it will be possible to feast on vitamin greens a couple of weeks after they grow.

Horseradish

For the cultivation of horseradish from seed sowing good for winter. Depth of planting 2-3 cm.

Sorrel

When sown in autumn, sorrel appears much earlier and produces friendly shoots. Depth of landing - 1-1.5 cm.

Unconventional but possible

Potatoes

Tubers should be intact, approximate weight 100-150 g. Planting depth - 10-15 cm. At this distance from the surface, potatoes can freely withstand temperatures up to -10 C. Planting time is the first nightly frost on the ground. In the spring you will need to briefly cover the beds with foil.

Cabbage

Cabbage tolerates winter, but is afraid of spring frosts. Experimenting with its landing in the winter is better exclusively in the southern regions. At the same time, varieties suitable for sowing exist not only for white cabbage, but also for broccoli, cauliflower and even Beijing. Depth of landing - 1,5-3 cm.

Fennel

Thermophilous fennel sown under the winter will give earlier friendly shoots. This method of planting is used only in the south of the country.
