Strawberry season on the way. When the whole family eat plenty of sweet berries, you can think of blanks for the winter. This season you can not bother the grandmother's copper basin, because there are great ways to save the berries in a completely new way!
Strawberries in the freezer
The easiest way is to wash the berries, peel the tails and freeze them. However, for consumption will have to defrost the entire package. There is an excellent alternative that has received the nickname “ice jam” in the people.
You will need:
- sugar (by weight of berries);
- boiling water;
Washed and peeled berries pour in boiling water. Rinse the strawberries and containers that you will fill. It is better to use containers with lids, they should be dried before packaging. Grind strawberries in a blender with sugar, until it is completely dissolved. Prepacked in prepared containers and send to the freezer. Such berries do not freeze, and they can be taken from the container in small portions. All vitamins and nutrients are perfectly preserved in such a mixture.
Strawberry ice cream
Why not fill the freezer with this natural delicacy?
You will need:
- A liter jar of fresh strawberries;
- a glass of sugar;
- 500 grams of heavy cream
Washed berries pour boiling water and chop in a blender. In the resulting puree, add sugar and wait until it is completely dissolved. Cool the cream slightly and beat with a mixer while at the same time introducing berry puree. Mix the mixture to fill the ice cream machine or a shallow bowl. Put in the freezer. If you do not have a special device, stir the mixture every half hour to prevent it from icing up.
Sweet candied fruits
They will be a great addition to cereals, cereals and fresh cottage cheese.
You will need:
- sugar (half of the weight of the berries);
- deep pan
Rinse the berries with boiled water and place in a colander. Allow the strawberries to dry slightly, and then place them in the bottom of the pan. Each layer of berries should be sprinkled with a layer of sugar (300 grams per kg of berries). Cover the pan with a lid and let the strawberries stand for a day at about 20-24 degrees. The second way is to send the pan for 2 days in the fridge.
It is important not to mix the berries with a spoon and wait until the sugar is completely dissolved. After all the juice has drained, add another glass of sugar to it and bring the syrup to a boil. Berries should be obtained beforehand. After boiling the syrup, remove it from the heat and dip the berries in it for 5-7 minutes. Then strain the syrup again, and dry the berries on a wire rack at a temperature of 50-60 degrees until the consistency of raisins. Store candied fruits in the refrigerator in a tightly closed jar.
After making candied fruit, it will definitely remain with you. Pour it into a glass, sterilized bottle, before boiling.
You can do without sugar, if you have a special dryer for vegetables and fruits. Cut the berries into thin plates, pre-doused with boiling water. Use the dryer in accordance with the instructions. It is better to store such berries in a jar with an airtight lid.
