The word Hugge in Danish means “comfort,” or a special form of unity and integrity. A room designed in the style of Hugge should create a sense of calm, comfort and security.
Hugge is not so much a design direction as a lifestyle, and to follow it, follow a few simple rules:
Rule 1: dress warmly
Choose comfortable homewear and interior items. Let the room in which you relax will be filled with simple and relaxed things. In winter, a cozy blanket, a soft sweater and fluffy socks should always be at hand.
Rule 2: Keep together
Surround yourself with those you feel comfortable with. If you are unable to communicate with relatives, gather friends for an evening tea party and get to know your neighbors closer.
Rule 3: Kindle the Fire
In an ideal house in the style of Hugge, of course, there is a fireplace. Unfortunately, this luxury is not available to residents of standard apartments. Light candles and install several light sources far below eye level - this will make the room much more comfortable.
Rule 4: Cook Delicious Food and Drinks
In the winter cold drink aromatic tea, coffee and hot chocolate with the addition of spicy spices and fruits. Learn some original baking recipes so that there is an extra reason to invite friends to visit.
Rule 5: Take time for your favorite hobby
Get a new hobby or seriously immerse yourself in an existing one. Try to immerse yourself in the process, not focusing on the result of the work. Think of a long-forgotten book, or finally master the game of guitar.
Rule 6: Look for joy in simple things.
Allow yourself to leisurely watch what is happening around you, play with your beloved pet or just lie on the bed. The most important thing is to stick to moderation, and quit any activity that has ceased to bring joy.
Rule 7: Break without gadgets
At least for a couple of hours turn off the phone, do not watch TV, and do not listen to music. Let only natural sounds surround you: the sound of rain, the crackle of fire, or even the noise of the city outside the window.
Rule 8: Lead an active lifestyle
Hugge does not mean constant lying under the rug! To have a good rest, you should be thoroughly tired. Take a walk in the fresh air every day, even in cloudy weather.
