Changing tiles is a very time consuming and financially costly task. The author of this master class thought about how to upgrade tiles without undertaking large-scale repairs. People paint the wall in their home, renovate furniture and even concrete pavements. So why not deal with tiles in the same way? Renovating the tile was not so difficult, and the result exceeded all expectations.

Work inspirations can be found in new ceramics collections. Graphic motifs look much more spectacular than a single tile. Now you need to find the right paint. In this case, white and graphite black were used. For painting, you will need a stencil of thick paper, a brush and a roller, so that the paint goes flat. The girl chose the paint on a chalky basis.

Before work it is necessary to prepare a surface for painting. Clean the floor with soap and water, clean all stains and wipe dry. Do not skip this step, otherwise the paint will not fall flat! Paint over the baseboards and part of the walls with masking tape to prevent the paint from going where it shouldn't be. Then update the grout in the space between the tiles. Since the new color of the tile will be dark, the author of the alteration has chosen a graphite-colored grout.

After complete drying, remove the grout from the tile and apply a thin layer of paint with a roller. Let it dry. Then apply another layer. Repeat until the floor has acquired the desired color.

Make sure that the pattern on the stencil exactly matches the size of the tile. The edges of the stencil should be slightly over the edges of the tile. Secure the stencil on the floor with adhesive tape.

Using a roller, apply a layer of light paint. To lay it flat, try to apply each element in one steady motion.

Carefully remove the stencil and move it to the next tile. Do not apply paint to the next - you may damage the painted area with the edges of the stencil. It is better to first paint all the tiles diagonally, and after drying the paint, return to those that remain dark.

If you need to paint the tile against the wall, just bend the stencil in half.

As a result, all tiles must be painted.

Let the painted floor dry for two hours. Then you need to take a brush and fix all possible flaws. First, work in black. Then leave the floor to dry again. Next, walk on the tile with a brush with light paint. As a result, the tile should look like it was bought at a store. Leave the tile to dry overnight.

The more carefully you work, the better the result will be.

Now you should cover the tiles with polyacrylic varnish. The first layer should be carefully applied with a brush, avoiding excessive pressure. The following layers should be applied with a roller. After each coat of varnish, the floor should dry for at least two hours. You need at least four layers. After the last one, leave the floor to dry overnight, and in the morning remove the masking tape.

New floor is ready! You can safely walk on it.
